Yale Steam Laundry Board Elected

February 19, 2010

Last night (February 18), Yale Steam Laundry Condominiums and lofts elected their first complete HOA Board. The initial board is a 3 member board. Per the condo by-laws the board can put a vote before the Association to make this a 5 member board.

51% of the owners were represented at the building. Granted 22% of that number is represented by units still owned by the developer, it is a pretty good turn out. 4 residents ran for the 3 vacant spots.

The three positions consist of one board member serving a 3 year term, one serving a 2 year term, and one serving a 1 year term. This will help keep some continuity on the board. Future board members will be elected for 2 year terms.

January 25, 2010

It’s official. Owners received their letters announcing the first annual meeting to elect the board. Owners also received this email today from the building management. This is good for condo sales in the area.

“On 12/3/09,Yale reached the 75% sold mark, triggering the 90 day countdown for the election of a new Board of Directors and the transfer of control from the developer to the Association.  As a result, the 1st Annual Meeting of the Association will be held on Thursday, February 18th, at 7:00 pm in the lobby.  The meeting notice was mailed to all Yale owners on 1/22/10.  The purpose of the meeting is to elect the 3 members of the Board of Directors.”

Developer Slum Properties

May 22, 2009

Update: The developer mowed the lawn. Left all the foot tall cut grass laying around,s o it looks sloppy, but they did cut it. It’s a start.

IMG_0353Should developers like the one that owns this property near the corner of 5 & L be required to keep these properties clean? This developer is sitting on the property waiting to build a shiny new condo building. However, they don’t mow the lawn or collect trash. People walking by have to wonder what may emerge from the weeds and 2 foot high grass.

Prostitution on Bible Way Church Property!

May 20, 2009

bway4l

Bible Way Church purchased a segment of land at the corner of 4th and L. This segment of land is a known area where prostitutes work and perform sexual acts with their johns behind trash cans.

Bible Way Church is supposed to be developing this land. Instead they leave it unsecured and allow prostitutes to do their deeds. Now that is a supportive community church!

The residents are beginning to send police photographs and working to clean things up. We implore Bible Way Church to do their part and rid the neighborhood of these prostitutes!

Mt. Vernon Sq./Triangle Community Holds Meeting at Yale

May 20, 2009

The MVSNA held their monthly meeting at the Yale last night. I was not able to attend, however Lt. Craig Royal was present to talk about crime in the neighborhood. It sounds like the meeting was productive. After the meeting the residents in attendance took a walk through the neighborhood with the officer to “tour” the prostitution areas and show a force to make the prostitutes and johns uncomfortable.

It seems these neighborhood walks may become a regular thing. If you are interested, keep in touch with the MVSNA.
